A Hard Journey
Civilizational Impact
GRU Space was founded on the conviction that humanity’s transition to an interplanetary species is not a question of if, but when.

Our Story
Humans cannot expand beyond Earth until we solve habitation on the Moon. When we solve off-world habitation, this is the "Promethean moment" that will enable billions of human lives to be born on the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
Imagine the first children born on the Moon and Mars. Imagine the first languages, cultures, cities. Human civilization will change forever.
Skyler has been obsessed with how to make humanity interplanetary his entire life. After building NASA-funded 3D printer flown into space and vehicle software at Tesla, he decided to graduate early from UC Berkeley EECS to found GRU Space - because the time is now.

GRU Space Team
GRU Space is led by builders in spaceflight and autonomous systems, united to make humanity interplanetary.

Skyler Chan
Founder & CEO
Skyler graduated early from Berkeley EECS to make humanity interplanetary. Previously he built vehicle software at Tesla, built a NASA funded 3D-printer launched into space, and authored at the largest space conference. Air Force-trained pilot at 16.

Dr. Kevin Cannon
Founding Member of Technical Staff
Kevin was a professor at Colorado School of Mines, and previously CTO at Ethos. He is the world expert in lunar and martian regolith. Kevin holds a PhD in Planetary Sciences from Brown University. Kevin leads GRU’s ISRU program.

Dr. Robert Lillis
Advisor
Associate Director for Planetary Science at UC Berkeley’s Space Sciences Laboratory and PI of ESCAPADE (NASA Mars mission). His research addresses radiation, space weather, and atmospheric loss critical to human presence beyond Earth.
